mac mini haul

ive been reorganizing my makeup and i decided to invest in some mac palettes. its cheaper (since you can buy the pan product for less than the potted) and it saves space. for this reason i bought a few things online at mac. i got the 15 e/s palette and the 6 blush palette. since i bought the palettes, i thought i might as well get a little product too to put inside it :)

mac e/s in: arena left, naked lunch right

i dont have any good all over lid colors from mac so i decided to get some light slightly shimmery colors. i chose arena to match my olive/yellow skin tone and i chose naked lunch because my sister owns it and i really love using hers whenever i am around her :)

i didnt swatch the colors because they are so light, but arena is a satin e/s with slight shimmer. its a soft beigey gold color. ive been using it all week as an all over lid color with a bit of embark in the crease and i love it. very subtle and natural. it really fits my skintone.

naked lunch is a frost e/s. its basically a shimmery skin colored light pink. i really thought i wouldnt enjoy this shadow but i do like it a lot. i usually dont like to wear pink shadow too.

mac blush in well dressed

well dressed is a very pale shimmery girly pink. i will admit, the only reason i got this blush is because lollipop26 uses it so much and i love her looks/videos/blog. normally i would avoid this type of color, just because it's so pale and i assumed the pigmentation wouldnt show up. but i researched pictures of others with similiar skintones as me wearing it and i deemed the look as good.

im wearing it today and i'm liking it. its very subtle and natural but not too sheer where you see nothing. the shimmer isnt noticable either...bonus! i do wish the pigmentation were a bit better, i had to swirl and apply twice, but it's ok. i am content.

what all over lid colors do you guys use?

yes!

shows how much of an influence youtube can have on me...this just made my day.

my favorite guru hands down on youtube was yorkieluvs. however a couple months ago her account was closed down as well as her blog. and i was so sad! pathetic that i was so sad over something so small but i loved her thoughts on products, her style, her pairings with makeup products, her top blushes, and nail polish collection. she is also very articulate and classy. not to mention she is so gorgeous! ok enough raving, i sound like a crazy person ha.

but anyway, i have been seriously missing her videos/blog. today i randomly searched for her name in youtube (even though i knew it wouldnt come up with valid videos, talk about obsessed) and i saw that someone else had posted a video saying yorkieluvs got a new channel:

http://www.youtube.com/user/blushingpixie

omg! really it's ridiculous how much ive missed watching her. she gives great reviews and has excellent taste so if you get a chance, check her out (if you havent already!). as to why her previous account closed...it still remains a mystery it seems...

enjoy.

review: sally hansen complete salon manicure

i have been eyeing these new sally hansen polishes every time i go into the store. but i passed on them, even though the packaging was appealing as well as their presentation at the store. i just couldnt justify spending almost as much as i would on an OPI polish on a regular drugstore polish.

but, after reading a review on all lacquered up, i had to try some. i've been meaning to get a darker purple shade that wasnt too dark where it seemed black, as well as a very light neutral opaque pink shade. so my choices were pink slip and plum luck.

pink slip

this is the color i have currently on my nails. i LOVE the color. it was exactly what i was looking for, a pretty light pink nail thats opaque.

this is three coats, but you could get away with two.

plum luck. i havent worn this color yet, but when i do i will post up pictures.

the polish didnt dry at any amazingly fast rate, just at a normal polish drying rate. this didnt bother me since it didnt claim to dry fast. i am not sure on the wear time since i have only worn it for a day and my nails still look the same so i will give an update on how long it lasts.

overall i am satisfied with my purchase. the color on my nails is exactly as the bottle shows which is what i wanted. i love the sleek packaging as well.

there are, however, a couple cons to the product. for one, i dont really care for the formula of this polish. it's not bad, it just doesnt apply as smoothly and evenly as i expected it to. it applied slightly streaky, which brings me to my second con, the shape of the brush. i believe the shape of the brush is the reason why the polish would get a bit streaky. i tried to get a decent picture of the brush, which was a fail because of my sucky camera. but the applicator isnt like a normal brush, the brush is tapered at the ends so the polish doesnt uniformly coat the nail. i dont know why sally hansen decided on this brush shape, but i dont like it at all.

but since i love the colors so much i am willing to overlook these factors.

have any of you tried this new polish? what are your thoughts? if you have pictures of any colors let me see them! :)

bobbi brown pot rouges

**UPDATE** i did a revamped post on my current pot rouge collection! check it out HERE(the pictures are much better, i promise :D)

I love bobbi brown's pot rouges. pot rouges are a multipurpose product, where they can be used on your cheeks or lips. i prefer to use them on my cheeks (although i have not tried it out on my lips). they are my favorite cream blushes hands down.

blushed rose on left, powder pink on right the reason

i prefer these cream blushes over any of the others i own is because of the formula. this stuff blends like a dream into my skin! and its not sticky, like how mac's cream blushes can be. when blended out on my cheeks, blushed rose comes out as a healthy glowy browned pink and powder pink come out as fleshy fresh light pink. i usually dont apply these with my fingers, i use brushes.

as for swatches:

blushed rose left, powder pink right

out of all the blushes i own, blushed rose has been my favorite. it doesnt look like a remarkable color at all in the pot or swatched, but on the face its so gorgeous. i really love the formula of these pots. i want to collect all of them! do any of you own any bb pot rouges?
